Miami isn't winning any (more) titles anytime soon, and Stanton is the only really movable piece, unfortunately for me. Although it doesn't hurt that I have Stanton's heir-apparent in my farm already.
I'm just selling and looking to the future, basically.
I don't think getting the #82, #47 and #65 ranked prospects is wildly unreasonable.

Ok, well, we need power. Olivares, who we signed to provide corner OF power, has been a bust so far. Bradley, who we signed in the offseason, hasn't hit well, and Ken Work, our other OF, has been inconsistent, and disappointing over last season's numbers. Stanton provides us with elite power, something we lack, and gives us the edge to push us into the playoffs, perhaps even providing a division title.
I'm a little confused as to the request, but there is the reasoning from our perspective.

So this trade has been vetoed. We understand the need for Miami to shed salary, as they're adding significant amounts from extensions next year, but in comparison to some of the other players receiving more money from Miami, Stanton is a deal at $17M. Stanton is also arguably one of the best corner OF's in the league right now and was never offered to the free market. I honestly believe Stanton would fetch 3 top 25 prospects on an open market. While this deal makes sense from SF's perspective, Miami is not negotiating in good faith with the rest of the league.
The recommendation of the Commissioners office is that Miami place some of their other, more expensive players, on the market as well as Stanton and allow an open bidding process.
