On the Block:
CF Jim Donnelly (AA): Jim Donnelly was once a superstar. Unfortunately, he broke his elbow in 2020 and has never regained his full swing. However, he is still an excellent outfielder, rating very well in left and center and about average in right. While his contact numbers have gone down, he walks a lot and does not strike out often, and his speed is among the best in the league. He would make an excellent fourth outfielder.
SP Silfredo Garcia (AAA): Garcia was competing in the spring for the fifth starting spot. He's declined a bit, but should still fit a bullpen role somewhere.
Available:
3B Brad Miller (AAA): While Miller has lost some ability with age, he still has a year or two of good play left in him. He is a depth option, but a good one, at either second or third.
LF Jack Barr (AAA): Barr has never been proclaimed an excellent hitter, though in 2020 he did manage a .251 average. His glove and speed are his tools. Making the league minimum, Barr is an excellent option off the bench, either as a defensive replacement in any of the outfield positions or as a pinch runner.
RF Omar Cotto (AAA): Cotto still has the potential to make it as a big-league outfielder. His glove is good enough to play any of the outfield positions, and he spent most of the season at AAA learning left and right field - he was already good at center. He's no elite speedster, but he will likely steal a few bases throughout the season, and his bat will not be silent - he hit .284/.338/.460 in AAA this year, and in 2019 (his longest stretch of major league service) with Detroit he hit .255/.300/.358.
RP Michael Feliz (AAA): Feliz makes for a decent middle reliever and emergency starter. He's only 28, and making the league minimum, so he's worth taking a chance on.
CF Ray Morrison (AAA): Morrison is an elite glove in right field, with the ability to also stand in at center, left, or first base. His speed is excellent - he stole 14 bases in AAA and was only caught once. His bat leaves something to be desired, but a good contact hitting coach should fix his woes there. He'd make an excellent utility player.
C Tony Sanchez (ML): Sanchez is a good backup catcher, and on some teams might be the starter. He's in the last year of his contract.
SS Levi Michael (ML): Michael was one of our best players last year, but with the emergence of Henry Evans and Dawel Lugo, the veteran infielder has been relegated to a super-utility role. He deserves a starting spot somewhere.
OF Jesse Winker (AAA): Winker should be on a ML roster. However, with Stanton, Soler/Goetzman, and Thompson locking up the outfield, there is nowhere for him to go in Philadelphia. Will trade him for prospects.
